Welcome to the Georgia Medical Directors Association Website
The Georgia Medical Directors Association (GMDA) - The Georgia Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine is an association of Medical Directors, physicians, nurse practitioners and doctoral level providers who practice in skilled nursing centers (SNF), assisted living centers (ALC or ALF), memory care centers, long-term acute care centers (LTAC) and anywhere else you find older adults who need specialized care and advocacy.
We sponsor Continuing Medical Education programs as Winter and Summer Symposia, and support providers on a daily basis as a resource for questions and referrals. Our officers and Board of Directors and related committees continually initiate programs and ideas to improve our service to our members. A full-time Executive Director coordinates the daily operation of the organization.
We work closely with the Georgia Health Care Association, Leading Age Georgia, and other medical associations to advocate for our patients and to provide better care than yesterday. We are a state chapter of the American Medical Directors Association - The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine and participate in national advocacy and service.
The gold standard for geriatric physicians is the Certified Medical Director (CMD) status. This board certification requires three years experience as a Medical Director, completion of the Core Curriculum (42 hours), an additional 18 hours of Medical Management training, and 60 hours of clinical education in the field of adult/geriatric medicine.
Please contact our office or any member if you have any questions or would like to join us in our service.
